What Against Malaria Foundation does

The Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) pays for long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets in malaria-endemic countries, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa and Papua New Guinea. A net hung over a sleeping space protects the people under it from the night-biting mosquitoes that spread the disease.

AMF keeps its role narrow. It buys the nets and relies on partner organizations to distribute them, and it has no in-country staff of its own. It says 100% of public donations go to nets, at about US$2 each. GiveWell estimates the fuller cost, including the distribution that partners pay for, at $4–$6 per net. AMF's site counter shows nearly 497 million nets funded to date, and in 2025 it committed 19.1 million nets to five Nigerian states for 2026–27.

GiveWell lists AMF as one of its four Top Charities and estimates it costs $3,000–$8,000 to avert a death where it works. Founded in the UK in 2004 by Rob Mather, AMF is a registered charity in 17 countries, so donors in the US and many other countries can give tax-deductibly.
