What Love146 does

Love146 works to end child trafficking and exploitation through care for survivors and prevention education. Rob Morris, Desirea Rodgers, Lamont Hiebert and Caroline Hahm co-founded it in 2002 after a trip to Southeast Asia, where some of them went undercover with investigators into a brothel and saw children being sold. The name comes from one girl there who wore the number 146 pinned to her dress. The organization is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In the US, its Survivor Care programs give both rapid-response and long-term support to more than 100 young people a year, with active programs in Connecticut, Colorado, Texas, Wisconsin and Ohio. Its prevention curriculum, 'Not a Number', has facilitators in 21 states, and Love146 also trains professionals who work with young people. Abroad, it supports a safe home for trafficking survivors in the Philippines; its UK operations closed in February 2023. Its donate page reports more than 62,000 children reached through prevention and survivor care, and says two independent evaluations of its work, supported by the CDC and the Department of Justice, are underway.

Love146 holds a Four-Star (94%) rating from Charity Navigator. Its site reports that about 70% of spending goes to programs. Public funding makes up about 46% of its revenue, and individual donors about 39%.
