What Sinergia Animal does

Sinergia Animal is a farmed-animal protection organization working in the Global South. Founded in 2017 and based in Brazil, it has national teams in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia and Thailand, and Animal Charity Evaluators lists its work as spanning eight countries across Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Most of its work targets the food industry. Corporate campaigns push companies to go cage-free for egg-laying hens and to improve conditions for pigs; ACE counts 169 cage-free commitments and 26 pig-welfare commitments secured. Undercover investigations — 23 released since 2017 — document conditions on factory farms and add pressure. Its Nourishing Tomorrow program helps schools and other institutions serve plant-based meals, with 195 institutions now doing so once a week, and it also engages banks and other financial institutions on their lending to industrial animal agriculture.

ACE has recommended Sinergia every year since 2018. It reported $2.1 million in 2024 revenue, and ACE estimated it could use roughly $0.8 million more per year. Sinergia has no US charity of its own, so US donors who want a tax deduction can give through ACE.
